In Sir Elton John’s new show The Million Dollar Piano, the star dons an array of dazzling costumes featuring over 1.7 million wholesale Swarovski crystals.

The prolific singer-songwriter, who has managed to chart a top 40 single every single year from 1970 to 1996, renowned for hits “Rocket Man”, “Daniel”, “Tiny Dancer”, “I’m Still Standing” to name but a few, teamed-up with his favourite tailor Richard James and Swarovski to create a series of stunning suits and garments embellished with Swarovski crystals, including a gold crystal-encrusted cape, 15 suits, 22 shirts, and 24 pairs of glasses.

Tailor Richard James told the Swarovski online magazine:“What attracted me to this project was the fact that number one, he’s Elton John, and he’s a fabulous man and a very talented man…Sparkly and Swarovski certainly go together don’t they? We wanted to do something that was very, very special and Swarovski have certainly done that.”

The Million Dollar Piano is a residency show taking place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. The show that started in September will mark the beginning of a three-year residency at The Colosseum for Sir Elton. Forthcoming shows are currently scheduled for February and April.

Nadja Swarovski told the Swarovski magazine: “I’ve been a fan of Elton’s music for years and so I’m especially excited about Swarovski’s involvement in The Million Dollar Piano… Elton is one of the most legendary performers and Richard is one of Britain’s best tailors.”

The man himself even gave Swarovski a few kind words, commenting: “I’ve always been a huge admirer of Swarovski and to work with them in this capacity is a dream come true.”
