Now that’s a crystal not available via Swarovski wholesale! Swarovski have provided this year’s award trophies for The Moët British Independent Film Awards – and they certainly stood out from the usual trophy crowd.
The award ceremony was held at Old Billingsgate Market in London on Sunday 4th December 2011, and was hosted by actor & comedian Chris O’Dowd – best known for playing Roy Trenneman in sitcom The IT Crowd.
The stunning award trophies were the talk of the evening. Entitled ‘Eternal Object’, they were created by Tokujin Yoshioka, the Japanese artist and designer whose works are part of permanent collections at Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The impressive trophy featured a giant cut Swarovski crystal encased within an acrylic block.
There was no shortage of celebs that turned out to try and get their hands on the impressive award. Stars included 007 Daniel Craig (who presented the award for Best British Independent Film), Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Kenneth Branagh, Ruth Wilson and Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens also made an appearance. Ralph Fiennes received the coveted Richard Harris Award on the night, for outstanding contribution to British film by an actor.
Swarovski are no strangers to the film industry, sponsoring and providing their dazzling wares for classics such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, as well as more modern films like Black Swan. This recent contribution adds further to Swarovski’s rich heritage in film and furthers the company’s vision of supporting creative talent.
